Other Characters: Dante, Xiao.

Character Name: Eizen.
Canon: Tales of Berseria.
Canon History: Here!

Canon Personality:
Calm, Cold & Aloof; Eizen cuts an intimidating figure and tends to come off as pretty cold and aloof when he is anything but. He doesn't help himself being a member of the most fearsome pirate crew to sail the seas.

Caring & Selfless; Jokes on everyone because Eizen is actually a big softie, practically adopting Laphicet as a younger brother, protecting and helping him figure out his place in the world and how to live his life. He also cares deeply about his sister Edna, despite her not being his sibling by blood, going so far as to leave her entirely once he realizes that his curse was effecting her and putting her in danger in the hopes of finding some way to break his curse.

Cursed; Eizen believes himself to be cursed, as his presence seems to bringing misfortune down upon any who hangs around him. Only once he met the man known as Van Aifread, who chose to claim the cursed ship that Eizen had been using as his vessel, who helped him come to terms with his curse telling him that "If you were born with the power of that curse, then the curse itself is who you are." It was with Aifread's help that Eizen discovered his true name, a thousand years late, and that he had a place amongst these pirates.

Loyal; He is incredibly loyal to the people he cares about, to the point of recklessness, going to the end of the earth to help them. In Aifread's case Eizen walked straight into an trap knowing full well that it was likely waiting for him, just for the chance of being able to save him. Once his loyalty is earned Eizen will stand by them through thick or thin, such is the case with Velvet and crew. He could have probably saved himself the hassle and cut loose the moment his goals were achieved, but he didn't see it all through until the very end, both because of loyalty and because of his creed.

His Creed; One of the most important things to Eizen is a man's creed; the way he decides to live his life. It is why being a pirate appealed to him so much. Pirates are free to do whatever their wish, not to mention the Van Aifread, the man who changed his life so much, was the first to introduce him to the concept of taking a hold of the wheel of his life and take it where ever he pleases - a concept he passes onto Laphicet, telling him to take control of his own life instead of letting other people dictate what he should do. There is nothing he hates more than someone else trying to dictate how people should live their lives, which is why he hates the Abbey so much for their practice of shackling malakhim to them as slaves and ridding them of their free will. Eizen encourages this in others, respects those who stick to their ideals, and will never forgive anyone who dares trample on them.

Actually a Huge Nerd; In something that seems to contradict his appearance, Eizen has a massive love affair for ancient relics such as statues, paintings, clothes, jewelry. He has even gone so far as to have stolen from his sister's secret savings in order to collect them. There is a dramatic sort of change when he encounters artifacts of any kind, he brightens noticeably and starts to ramble on about facts most people won't care about or known. Eizen has a considerable amount of knowledge that he is more than happy to share with others, rambling about multiple things over the course of their journey - including Laphicet's bag, the Fujibayashi rod, and how underwater tunnels are made.

Huge Nerd but Don't Fight him; One can say that he honestly enjoys showing off his knowledge, however he is not that fond of being contradicted in any way. He may even need to be right. This was displayed in a few ways, most notably the huge argument he got in with Rokurou about if the beetle they found was a stag or a rhinoceros type, and when Eleanor seemed to correct him about his theory on the underwater tunnels. It appears to hurt his pride making him dismissive and irritable whenever he gets corrected.

Secretive; Eizen can be secretive, often only giving out information that he deems is necessary or that he can actually confirm. He is a pirate after all and knows the value of information, how it can be used to gain and advantage as well as take one away from his enemies. Withholding information about Aifread's gun, not letting anyone become aware of his sister, withholding his theory of Aifread's fate because he did not want to admit to himself. Even most of his letters back to Edna were something of a facade, hiding from her what he was really doing so far away and why he couldn't come back home. It wasn't until he encountered the Normin Phoenix did Eizen finally start writing her letters about what he was truly doing and how he was truly feeling.

But Also Honest; Eizen is painfully honest about the Reaper's Curse, warning people of the risks they were taking before they got too involved with him. If they choose to stand by him knowing those risk, knowing that people have died because of it, than that is their choice and he will respect it.

Stubborn & Hardheaded; Eizen can be known to be stubborn and somewhat hardheaded, the incident with beetle is a good example, as is the incident where he become incredibly determined to have underwater tunnels running from the prison island. He argued for them, even saying he would dig them out himself if he had too. And when someone mentioned that they didn't have a second island to tunnel to, Eizen countered it by saying he would build a second island as well. His first encounter with Zavied is another, refusing from backing down from fighting the wind malak and forcing Velvet to kick both their asses.

Violence & Murder is A-Okay; He is not afraid to use violence as a means to an end, using both it and intimation on more than one occasion. He is not above breaking fingers to get what he needs, nor is he above killing. In fact his conflict with Zaveid, a man resolved not to kill, revolved around it. A conflict that came to a head when Eizen discovered the dragon Zaveid tried so hard to protect. He determined to kill it knowing the threat it posed to both humans and malakhim alike, and knowing that doing so would have it's repercussions. It was through the conflict with the dragon that Eizen was able to convince Zaveid that sometimes to killing in not only necessary, but it is best for all involved.

Faction: Black Order.

AU History:
Eizen was born the only child to an average family in a small town rural town in Colorado. His childhood was as average as one could be out in the mountains, Eizen liked to spend his time out in nature collecting bugs and spending time with his friends. It was normal, it was good, it was never meant to last.

Nothing ever strange happened in his town and nothing strange ever happened to the people Eizen knew, but everything was turned on its head when he turned 15 and the family was returning home from having spent the day out celebrating. The weather suddenly turned; sunshine was replaced by dark clouds, heavy rain, hail, and thunder. The self-same road they had traveled on many times before suddenly became treacherous and Eizen heard his mother scream about something in the road, his father hit the brakes and lost control of their car which careened off the road, and then ─ darkness.

Eizen's parents died that night and Eizen might have died along them were it not for a passerby who bore witness to the accident and rushed in the help. There was very little he could do for the boy's parents, but he could at least do something for Eizen himself. The name of his savoir was Van Aifread, whose fast thinking saved Eizen from sharing the fate of his parents. Now orphaned and with very few options available to him, Aifread took the young boy under his wing traveling the country alongside him as they both tried to figure out their place in the world.

They spent the next few years traveling from place to place, doing odd jobs here and there, accidentally collecting societal strays much like themselves and forming something of a group... a gang almost. A collection of like-minded individuals that Eizen jokingly dubbed 'Aifread's Pirates', a name so ridiculous that the man himself unironically made it official. They were happy, they were free. Sure, things weren't always sunshine and rainbows, they made a few enemies here and there, and got into some scuffles that left them battered and bruised - but they did not mind in the end. As long as they were able to take hold of the wheel of their lives and take it where ever they pleased little else mattered.

But those happy times were never meant to last forever.

Not long after Eizen turned 25 everything came crumbling down in spectacular fashion. It was the middle of the night when the attack came, suddenly and without any warning, throwing everything into unbridled chaos. In truth Eizen himself remembers very little of that night, he remembers the sounds of gunfire, the groaning of old wood, he remembers hearing the screams of friends calling out for Aifread, he remembers blood on his hand, and a rage that bubbled up from deep within him until it exploded. When Eizen awoke the abandoned building they had been staying in was utterly destroyed by large jagged rocks jutting out from the ground, bodies of their attackers both crushed and skewered. Those who survived were quick to dig through the rubble of the building, searching for Aifread, searching for Eizen.

He was right there, in front of them, but no one could see him, no one could hear him. He watched as his friends dug and dug and dug and came up empty, as Benwick stepped up gathering the survivors, and left. They had to leave, had to lick their wounds, and find their leader before the authorities arrived. So they left and Eizen was once again alone.

Though not for long.

It was there that the Black Order found him, there where they gave him the choice; work for them or have all of his memories and powers sealed away. Because the latter meant that he would lose all memory of Aifread, of Benwick, and he wouldn't be able to find out what happened, Eizen agreed. He would accept these chains if it meant he is able to find out who attacked them, if he is able to discover the truth of Aifread's fate.

After that Eizen was taken in, trained, and spent the better part of the last five years in Florida, only to be sent to Kaisou after a large string of unfortunate events that involved (but was not limited to) Willow almost getting eaten by crocodiles no less than three times. He's your problem now Kaisou.
AU Personality Differences:
Overall Eizen is incredibly similar to his canon counterpart except that he has an Edna-shaped hole in his heart he will not be aware of for a little while, but it is okay he is fixing that hole with other people. Like Eunie and Lapis.
